ESN Italy aims to spread among exchange students the culture of healthy living, practising, during their period in Italy, one or more sports disciplines, trying to create further points of aggregation with other foreign students, but above all with Italian students, even in a country which is at first "unknown".

The objective of the Italian Network is to promote and foster, through the organisation of recreational-sports activities, the integration and social cohesion between students of Italian nationality and foreign students hosted in Italy within the Erasmus project and similar. In addition, the aim is to further boost international mobility and awareness of European citizenship, stimulating young Italians themselves to experience a period abroad, in full harmony with the new 'Erasmus +' programme.

The National Erasmus Games are a national sports event. Also known as the Erasmus Olympics, the NEG are designed so that students from all over Italy compete in different sports competitions.

What makes the initiative original is the fact that the young athletes do not represent their home nation, but wear the colours of their host city during their mobility period, competing in different sports such as football, beach volleyball and basketball.

The NEGs are also the national stage of ESN Italy's "Erasmus and Sport" project, the aim of which is, since 2013, to spread among mobile students the culture of practising one or more sports disciplines during their stay in Italy, aiming to build a sense of community and cultural closeness between Erasmus and local students, thanks to the educational bridge created by sport, being "an environment in which everything is easier", even crossing national and linguistic borders.

This year the event will be held in San Benedetto del Tronto
from 12 to 14 April.
