From 15 to 19 October 2025, our Communication Manager, Leonardo Brecchia, volunteer of ESN Perugia and member of the ESN Italy network, represented our section at the international training “Community Actions BY Youth, for Peace Education”, jointly organised by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) within the framework of the European project Voices of Change.
Below are his words to share an experience that truly gives voice to peace.
The training took place in Korzkiew, near Kraków (Poland), bringing together over forty young leaders from all over Europe for five days of learning, dialogue, and exchange. Together, we explored the themes of peace education, conflict resolution, empathy, and community project design, in a deeply intercultural setting.
During the sessions, we worked on concrete tools to turn ideas into real actions — from understanding our sphere of influence to creating local projects capable of fostering impact and social cohesion.
I’ve learned that peace is not an abstract concept, but a collective skill: it grows through listening, mutual respect, and the courage to build bridges where divisions exist.
I carry with me not only new tools but also a network of extraordinary people who believe in the same vision — a generation of conscious, active young people ready to change their communities through dialogue.
As an ESN member, I believe that the value of such initiatives lies in connecting different worlds — students, volunteers, youth workers — who choose to work together towards a more inclusive and peaceful future.
A heartfelt thank you to World Scouting, ESN International, ESN Italy, and everyone who made this journey possible, proving that change begins when we meet to build together.
“Peace doesn’t happen by chance. It’s built — one dialogue, one action, one connection at a time.”
